WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kressin Meador Powers (KMP) proudly announces that Mark Meador, a founding partner of the firm, has been nominated by President-elect Trump to serve as a Commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This nomination reflects Mr. Meador’s distinguished career in antitrust law and his deep experience in both enforcement and policy roles.
Mr. Meador brings unique qualifications to this position, having served in key roles at both the FTC and the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. His experience includes leading complex investigations in the FTC’s Bureau of Competition’s Healthcare Division and the DOJ’s Transportation, Energy & Agriculture Section. As a senior antitrust attorney for Senator Mike Lee, incoming Chair of the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee, he also played a crucial role in shaping modern antitrust legislation.
“Mark’s nomination is a testament to his expertise in antitrust and his commitment to promoting fair competition,” said Brandon Kressin, founding partner at KMP. “He has a unique perspective, combining enforcement experience with deep policy knowledge, which makes him exceptionally qualified for the FTC during this transformative period in antitrust.”
Added Richard Powers, founding partner and former acting Assistant Attorney General of the DOJ Antitrust Division: “Mark is both an outstanding leader and a brilliant antitrust lawyer. His deep background as an enforcer at the FTC and DOJ, plus his experience working for Sen. Lee, make him an ideal pick.”
Mr. Meador’s nomination comes at a critical time as antitrust enforcement faces new challenges across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, and consumer protection. His experience advising on oversight of federal enforcers and his role in landmark antitrust legislation position him well to guide the FTC’s future direction.
